This post is about the most popular press on nail shapes.
When shopping for press on nails, you’ll want to look for “full cover” nails, instead of “tips”. When searching for the nails on amazon I would search for instance, “coffin full cover nails”. You will notice the wording the sellers will use in their titles are not necessarily correct, so the list below will help you in selecting the correct nail shapes.
- Coffin
These are by far the most popular of all the nail shapes and rightfully so. In my opinion, they make your fingers look slimmer. Coffin nails are also the most popular sold, with square and ballerina a close second and third.
Coffin Nails are more tapered from the middle to the tip as Ballerina are more tapered at the tip.
- Ballerina
For some reason, these are mislabeled in a lot of places all over the internet. Some call them Coffin and some call them Ballerina. I’m team Ballerina for this press on nail shape!
3. Stiletto
Stiletto’s are very narrow at the tip.
4. Almond
These are basically a wider version of the stiletto nail shape.
5. Oval
Oval are slightly more rounded than almond.
6. Round
These are slightly more rounded than the oval nail shape.
7. Square
8. Squoval
This one is basically a square with rounded edges instead of sharp edges.
The below nail shapes aren’t as popular as the above press on nail shapes but they are definitely options (and there are many more than the list below):
- Lipstick…clip one side of the nail tip at an angle.
- Flare…not a clue!
- Edge.. clip the nail at both sides of the tip and make the point sharp.
- Blade…same as “edge” just clip the nail at both sides a little bit higher and make the point sharp.
- Mountain Peak…same as “edge and blade” just clip the nail at the sides just a tiny bit, then make the point sharp.
- Pipe…these just clipped in a u shape at the tip.
