Wanna find out how to measure press on nails to sell? Getting the sizing correct is so crucial for your press on nail business. Below you’ll see how to measure your press on nails for the size chart you’ll create later. Once done these measurements will be called Preset Sizes.
This post is about how to measure press on nails to sell.
Keep in mind thumbs are usually sizes 0-3, Pointer fingers usually size 3-7, Middle fingers usually size 2-6, Ring fingers usually size 4-7 and the Pinky is usually sized 6-9. The preset sizes are just a guide you’re creating based on the general sizing of most people. Of course, your customer can always provide their custom sizes if the preset sizes don’t work for them.
Measuring
If you’re using a regular ruler, place a piece of clear tape across the widest part of the press on nail and draw a line with your pen down the edge on both sides of the nail.
Then take the tape and place it on the centimeter side of the ruler. Count the number of lines on the ruler from one marking to the next (don’t worry about the actual numbers showing on the ruler just count the lines). This will give you the size in millimeters of that particular nail. You will want to write these mm measurements down to prepare for creating your sizing chart.
If you’re using a fabric ruler you can skip the tape and just lay the fabric ruler across the press on nail, at the widest part of the nail, then count the lines from one edge of the nail to the other.
When you purchased your full cover nails from your supplier, they should have come numbered 0-9. Once you have measured each nail to get the mm size then add it to your size chart with the corresponding number found on the packaging or you can find it on the tip of the nail. You could also purchase an already set up template for your size chart here.
You would repeat this process of measuring, for every nail shape you have purchased. This is THE hardest part of press on nails (the struggle is so real), but if you follow the steps above I promise YOU WILL GET THROUGH IT.
