The placement of your gems really just depends on the look you’re going for. You may be going for a super girly look, a classic look, a glam look, a playful look, etc. I would say look around Pinterest and you’ll see a ginormous gallery of rhinestone nail looks that will give you tons of inspiration to come up with your own idea of a rhinestone nail look.
You could even try looking at some of the top press on nail artists on Instagram, don’t copy of course, but study their placement and try to look for patterns in their work so you can learn what makes sense and what doesn’t when putting together a rhinestone nail design. For instance, pay attention to where they place larger stones versus smaller stones. Pay attention if certain stone arrangements look best with polish at the bottom, off to one side, no polish at all, etc. Also, think about whether there is already a lot going on with the entire set. If this is your goal that’s fine but just make sure to take notice of all these elements. To be honest, I would research and look around as much as possible, then put your own spin on it and just do you!
Take a look at some inspiration examples below. Pay close attention to the placement of the different size stones and where they are placed and try not to be like me and actually get them straight on the nails! LOL
Also, since you may wonder what glue to use for gems on nails, I would suggest using Makart’s glue gel. I’ve tried so many other glues and this one is literally the best glue I’ve found that really helps to keep the gems from falling off. Take a look at the short video below on how I use the glue to apply the gems.
